Just last week we were given the clearance to host Arabic club events in-person. Some of you may have attended our virtual club event. Now that the overall situation is looking better, we can actually meet in person, outside. We will maintain physical distancing, and we will wear our favorite masks. We are working on securing masks with Arabic writing on them.We have an event tentatively scheduled for Monday (9/28), and it will be outside.
We invite all students to join our award-winning (2018) club. All that is required is an abiding (or passing!) interest in rich Arab culture and related issues. Arabic not required.
In the past, we have visited restaurants, mosques, hosted anti-Islamophobia events, learned to belly dance, and even taken a calligraphy tutorial, producing our own art. We also host coffees and luncheons with professors. Our trademark is the issue of the Arabic tee-shirt, and we are currently working on this year's reissue. They sell out immediately every year! Like all the other clubs and organizations on campuses, we are currently looking into what is feasible in terms of this year's slate of events.
If you would like more information on these events, or would like to become part of our listserv, please email Catherine Bronson (club sponsor) at email@example.com, or Maryann Saba (co-president) at firstname.lastname@example.org. Signing up does not committee you to anything! Maryann and Michael have a number of great ideas brewing, and we'd love to add you to the list.
