Building Bridges: Continued Collaboration with Adams High School

Author: Chelsea Cloutier

The Arabic Club and Arabic Language Program have proudly continued their flourishing partnership with Adams High School. This ongoing collaboration, which bridges our campus with the local South Bend community, has seen another year of successful cultural and academic exchange.

Building on the momentum of last year—which was generously supported by the Dean’s Office—this year's flagship event was made possible through the gracious funding of the Muslim Student Association (MSA), who provided a wonderful community dinner.

The evening featured insights from several Notre Dame professors, alongside a dedicated group of students from the Arabic Club and our language courses. These students played a vital role in the event's success, not only by attending but by actively participating in the service of the meal.

The collaboration remains deeply rooted in the classroom. This past fall, Ali, a teacher at Adams, brought his students to campus to join our Arabic classes. This provided a unique peer-to-peer learning environment where Notre Dame and Adams students worked side-by-side, practicing language skills and building personal connections.

Following the success of the fall semester, we are excited to announce that we will be repeating this exchange in the spring. We look forward to welcoming Adams students back to our classrooms to continue this rewarding journey of language and friendship.
